Recovery update

I went in for my 2 week check up and am happy to report that everything is fine! I had the staples removed and was checked for strength and reflexes. My doctor told me I am right where I should be with my recovery. I am off work for another 2 weeks before seeing if I am able to return. I am honestly getting a bit bored and anxious to return to work!

My exercise regiment is walking only. Thank goodness for the treadmill. It might be a bit tough to be away from home on a walk and not be able to make it back! I also will start some hand strengthening. I am not to do any neck rolls/stretches at this time and will possibly be able to start that in 4 weeks when I revisit with the doctor. I am only to sit for 20 minutes and then I am to get up and move for 10 minutes. This will help my back from stiffening up and going into spasms.

I was put back onto the Neurotin medicine to help with the nerve pain. This medicine makes me twitch uncontrolably sometimes and I gain weight and bloat from it so it will be very important for me to walk and to watch my diet. I haven't been very good with my eating habits lately and my weight shows it! It is time to get back on track!

Tuesday

It is really strange to me that it is October and I didn't do the Portland marathon or go hunting. Time has been really strange since my surgery and it is hard to describe. I'm not even going to try to.

I am starting to put together 2009's race schedule and there are just way too many events that I want to do. I will first have to determine what is going to be my "A" race and then start to prioritze which are more important. The Boise 70.3 is a event that I want to do but the water temps are similar to the icy coldness of Lake Coeur d"Alene and that is just too cold! Vineman in July in Northern California sounds better to me! Maybe a quick 4 day trip.

True satisfaction comes from working towards a goal and then performing to our potential given the circumstances.

October 12

Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

Well not much sleep last night. The pain is just non-stop running down my arm, but the good news is that I have more use of my hand and fingers! I can't wait to start playing my guitar again. The few trips in the car that I have taken have been miserable. I think the way that the seat forms around my back aggravates it more. Angela will be having her short stay at the surgery center tomorrow. I am so gald that we have family that lives so close to us and is always willing to help out.
Off to the side I have a new poll that I want you to take. You can vote numerous times. These ideas are on top of my plan to run in the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon, , Blue Lake Oly distance and the Portland Marathon.
