Today was the first day that I could start running. We met at VanFit with Rick and Remay and started off on our run. The morning was 40 and sunny and just a incredible weather day for November. I had thought that I would be able to start back at about a 10 minute mile pace. Nothing too fast, just nice and easy down the waterfront and back, a 2 mile loop. I was physically able to run .34 of a mile at a 11:15 pace. I was so out of breath and my legs felt like cement blocks. We all ended up getting the 2 miles in but I was only able to run .46 of the distance and the rest walking.
This was a slap of reality in my face and it really taught me that this is going to be another long journey but I have had many of those in my life some of which I should have never came back from. So today was the first day and something to build upon. My weight is too high and my muscles are weak from the surgery recovery but they will return to normal. I just need to accept the fact that I have put on about 30 lbs and have been sedentary for the last 2 months. I will be starting my new training program this week to ease back into things and I will also be starting physical therapy also.
So here is to another journey that I am to embark upon and one that
will bring my joy and happiness back to where they should be.
Nothing’s better than the wind to your back, the sun in front of you, and your friends beside you. . जीवनं मम, यात्रा मम My love for you all.
